The Aboriginal Services Group is a highly specialized unit within Estate and Trust Services and is the only bank-owned trust company in Canada that has a department dedicated exclusively to administering trusts established by Aboriginal clients.

Our specialized team of highly educated and experienced trust professionals is dedicated exclusively to working with Aboriginal clients to administer various types of trusts and ensure preservation of trust assets for future generations.

We operate and administer trusts that are complex legal structures. Many trustees may lack the time or the expertise to manage these structures associated with large settlements. We can provide custody and investment management of assets, attend to the administration and record keeping of trust assets, account to community members and facilitate the training of co-trustees.

We are also supported by our other in-house professionals, including lawyers and accountants, who assist us with legal and tax issues associated with a community’s trust, ensuring the trust is administered in a cost-effective manner.

As an industry leader, our dedicated trust professionals administer many First Nation trusts across Canada. With almost two decades of experience in managing First Nation trusts and more than half a billion dollars in assets under administration, we understand the unique issues that Aboriginal communities face, and how those issues affect the administration of settlement trusts.
