Head of Client Insight & Intermediary Relationships

Julian Washington is responsible for overseeing relationships with key intermediaries and developing the businesses’ thought leadership work in the UK. Mr. Washington began his career in the private client field after reading law at Cambridge. He qualified as a solicitor in 1993 with the London law firm Charles Russell and there had broad experience of private wealth related advice. From 2000, Mr. Washington’s legal career continued at another prominent private client firm, Forsters, in Mayfair, and he accepted an offer of partnership there in 2005. His practice was focused on trust and estate planning for high net worth individuals and families (from traditional landed estates to those with other business interests) and charities. Mr. Washington joined RBC in 2010, initially assuming the role of Private Client Director, with responsibility for developing new fiduciary business in the UK. A large part of his role involved raising RBC’s profile among legal and other professionals. He has become a regular speaker at major industry conferences, including Legal Week Private Client Forum, and a contributor to such prominent publications as the STEP Journal and Private Client Practitioner.
