Head, Canadian Private Banking
As Head of Canadian Private Banking, Ann Bowman leads the business responsible for delivering holistic wealth planning advice, service and solutions to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. One of Canada’s most successful private banks, Canadian Private Banking has earned numerous distinguished awards, including: Number One Private Bank in Canada for ten consecutive years in the 2017 Euromoney Private Banking and Wealth Management survey; Best Private Bank in Canada for five consecutive years at the 2016 PWM/The Banker Global Private Banking Awards; and Outstanding Global Private Bank – North America at the Private Banker International Global Wealth Awards 2016.
Bowman joined RBC in 1986, and subsequently held a number of positions in commercial and corporate banking. Prior to joining Private Banking, she held numerous senior leadership roles, most recently serving as Regional Vice President for Ontario North & East Region, responsible for managing RBC Royal Bank’s commercial client relationships and portfolios. She led a team of 130 across the Eastern half of Ontario and was also responsible for RBC’s technology (KBI) across Ontario for several years of her tenure.
In her first executive role, Bowman was appointed Vice President of Business Banking for the Greater Toronto Region in 1998, and in 2000, became Vice President of Strategy for Canadian Banking. Two years later, she was appointed Vice President of eBusiness Architecture, which encompassed developing and leading a multi-faceted program of technology projects to streamline processes across Canadian Banking. In 2004, she assumed the role of Vice President, Sales Strategy. Following this, she moved on to become Vice President of Distribution Strategy, Canadian Banking, where she led RBC’s Canadian Banking Distribution Strategies across all channels.
Ann currently sits as Past-Chair of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. As well, she is Chair of the Investment Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the National Gallery Foundation. Ann has served on a number of Boards in the past, including Women’s College Hospital Foundation, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Peggy Baker Dance Projects.
Bowman is bilingual and holds a Baccalaureat en Sciences Economiques from the Universite Laval and an MBA from Queen’s University and has completed all three levels of the CFA program (AIMR).
Bowman lives in Toronto and enjoys an active life with her family including skiing and training for triathlons. Occasionally, she participates in one with a goal of being much more competitive one day.
