Janet Engels, a 35-year veteran of the securities industry, became Director of RBC Wealth Management’s Portfolio Advisory Group in 2002. For the firm, she is Chair of the U.S. Investment Committee and a member of the Directors Group. Previously, she served as Founder and Co-Chair of RBC Wealth Management’s Global Portfolio Advisory Committee (GPAC).
Janet is a much sought after speaker at client seminars throughout the United States. She regularly appears on national (CNBC, Fox Business, and MSNBC) and local television stations and is frequently quoted in leading industry publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and Reuters.
Her career began in the Equity Research department of Tucker Anthony in the early 80s where she helped establish the firm’s Equity Strategies group. She was named Director of Equity Research in 1991 for San Francisco-based Sutro & Co., the sister firm of Tucker Anthony. In 1994, she rejoined Tucker Anthony in New York as a Senior Vice President and Director of the Equity Strategies group.
In 2016, Profiles in Diversity Journal named Janet to its “Women Worth Watching” list in recognition of her leadership, achievements, and positive influence on RBC. Janet exemplifies RBC’s commitment to diversity and is a past recipient of RBC Wealth Management’s “Irv Weiser Diversity Award.” She was honored for her commitment to events and speaking engagements in support and education of women and increasing awareness about persons with disabilities.
She received a B.S. in Business Administration from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.
