Hong Kong, 5 May 2020<\/strong> \u2014 RBC Wealth Management, part of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), has made two key appointments in Asia to further enhance its offering to Asia\u2019s global families.<\/p>

In the past month, Alvin Chiam joined RBC\u2019s Singapore team as Wealth Planner, and Belle (Jing) Hu joined as Associate Director, Business Development, based in Beijing. Alvin will advise RBC Wealth Management\u2019s high-net-worth and ultrahigh-net-worth clients with wealth planning and transfer matters in Singapore, and Belle will lead RBC Wealth Management\u2019s growth efforts in mainland China.<\/p>

\u201cAlvin and Belle bring capabilities that will help us sharpen our competitive advantage in servicing families in Asia that have ties globally, especially to Canada, the US and the UK,\u201d said Terence Chow, Head of RBC Wealth Management in Asia. \u201cThese hires are especially important in the current economic environment, as uncertainty is leading to greater demand for wealth management advisory services, particularly related to wealth planning.\u201d<\/p>

These new hires in Singapore and China align with the findings of the 2019 Wealth Opportunity Index, developed by RBC Wealth Management in collaboration with the Economist Intelligence Unit. The index ranks both countries among the top three globally for wealth opportunity, which represents the ability of individuals and households in these markets to generate investable assets.<\/p>

Alvin and Belle join RBC\u2019s 2,000 strong employee base in Asia working across Wealth Management, Global Asset Management, Capital Markets and Investor & Treasury Services.<\/p>

Alvin has more than 15 years of experience in trust and estate planning. His expertise is in helping families pass wealth from one generation to the next and addressing the liquidity planning needs of Southeast Asian and Taiwanese clients. Alvin also brings a keen understanding of US legacy and UK wealth transfer planning issues, having implemented and managed private trust structures across these markets during his time with Barclays Wealth Trustees, Cititrust Singapore and DBS Private Bank.<\/p>

Belle returns to RBC following stints at HSBC Bank (China), where she worked as an Investment Product Expert, and DBS Bank, where she covered FX equity trading. She started her career with RBC in 2009 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and spent five years building experience and skills in our Canadian Banking business.<\/p>
