Director, Head of FX Solutions and Strategy
Based in London, Laura Cooper advises clients on strategic solutions pertaining to G10 and major emerging market currencies and contributes insights on broader macroeconomic trends. She sits on the Global Portfolio Advisory Committee and the British Isles Investment Committee, providing global currency coverage.
Originally from Canada, Cooper joined RBC in Toronto in 2012 as an economist in Capital Markets covering North American financial markets and the Canadian and U.S. economies. She then extended her role as an economist working on the thought leadership team within the Office of the CEO in early 2016. In this role, she helped shape RBC’s strategic position on key issues concerning macroeconomic trends, the financial industry and public policy. Cooper was the co-lead economic researcher for RBC’s Humans Wanted project, which played a key role in the design and implementation of the $500 million Future Launch initiative. She also authored The State of Women in the Economy report, which formed a foundation for the Canadian federal government’s 2018 fiscal plan.
Cooper joined RBC Wealth Management in her current role in October 2017 and holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics.
Outside of her role at RBC, she is a committee member of RBC’s employee resource group RWomen UK, which aims to support the advancement of women in the workplace. In her spare time, Cooper is a keen traveler and prolific reader.
