Head of Fixed Income - British Isles
Alastair Whitfield is head of fixed income, British Isles, for RBC Wealth Management in the United Kingdom.
Based in London, Whitfield leads a team that manages discretionary fixed income portfolios and provides fixed income strategies and implementations for advisory-led accounts. Whitfield is a member of the Global Portfolio Advisory Committee made up of RBC delegates located around the world, and sits on the British Isles Investment Committee.
Prior to re-joining RBC as an investment counsellor in January 2017, Whitfield was a portfolio manager for Chubb Insurance. In that role, he was responsible for the investment of the company's international assets totaling $8 billion, implementing macro investment strategy and credit allocation of multi-currency international fixed income portfolios. He previously worked for RBC Capital Markets as a credit analyst within the fixed income research team, where he covered European banks throughout the financial crisis. Whitfield moved into his current role in mid-2017.
Whitfield is fluent in Spanish, having obtained an honours degree in European Studies from Durham University. He is married and lives in Hertfordshire with his two children. Whitfield is a keen sports enthusiast and often spends his spare time cycling and running.
