Head of Fixed Income
Alastair Whitfield is head of fixed income for RBC Wealth Management in the United Kingdom.
Based in London, Whitfield leads a team that manages discretionary fixed income portfolios and provides fixed income strategies and implementations for advisory-led accounts. Whitfield is a member of the Global Portfolio Advisory Committee made up of RBC delegates located around the world, and sits on the British Isles Investment Committee.
Prior to re-joining RBC as an investment counsellor in 2017, Whitfield was a portfolio manager for Chubb Insurance. In that role, he was responsible for the investment of the company's international assets totaling $8 billion, implementing macro investment strategy and credit allocation of multi-currency international fixed income portfolios. He previously worked for RBC Capital Markets as a credit analyst within the fixed income research team, where he covered European banks throughout the financial crisis. Whitfield moved into his current role in 2017.
Whitfield is fluent in Spanish, having obtained an honours degree in European Studies from Durham University. He is married and lives in Hertfordshire with his two children. Whitfield is a keen sports enthusiast and often spends his spare time cycling and running.
