MINNEAPOLIS (September 13, 2016) – RBC Wealth Management-U.S., one of the nation’s largest full-service securities firms, today named Wally Chapman director of its central division. In that role, Chapman will be responsible for 54 branches and nearly 600 advisors in eight complexes.
Chapman joined RBC Wealth Management more than 20 years ago as a financial advisor, working his way up to manager of the firm’s Edina, Minnesota branch before assuming leadership of the firm’s 140-person Minneapolis complex in March 2015.
“Wally has made an incredible impact on our business as director of our Minneapolis complex,” said Tom Sagissor, president of RBC Wealth Management-U.S. “His energy, deep understanding of the business and commitment to both our clients and advisors make him the perfect fit to lead RBC Wealth Management’s Central Division.”
Earlier this year, industry trade publication On Wall Street included Chapman in its list of top 100 branch managers in the United States.
“This is an exciting time for RBC Wealth Management, with many opportunities for growth in the coming years,” Chapman said. “I am excited to join the firm’s senior leadership team as we work to bring the many and expanding capabilities of RBC Wealth Management to existing and new clients in the U.S.”
Before starting a career in financial services in 1988, Chapman played four years of hockey for the University of Minnesota, where he was captain of the team in 1986. He went on to play two years of minor league hockey, one in Germany and one in Utica, New York. Chapman joined RBC Wealth Management-U.S. in 1995. Today, in addition to his leadership role at RBC Wealth Management, he is heavily involved in the local community and serves on the boards of the Minneapolis Downtown Council and Hospitality House Youth Development.
