The Site has been issued by Royal Bank of Canada (Channel Islands) Limited from its office in Jersey, Channel Islands on behalf of certain Royal Bank of Canada entities that comprise RBC’s Wealth Management network. Royal Bank of Canada (Channel Islands) Limited is a separate legal entity to other companies that comprise the RBC Wealth Management network and information regarding products and services not provided by Royal Bank of Canada (Channel Islands) Limited, has been published with the prior authorisation and permission of the service provider.

Royal Bank of Canada (Channel Islands) Limited (“the Bank”) is regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission in the conduct of deposit taking, fund services and investment business in Jersey and is also regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission in the conduct of deposit taking and investment business and to act as a custodian/trustee of collective investment schemes in Guernsey. Each Scheme offers protection for ‘eligible deposits’ or ‘qualifying deposits’ up to £50,000 per individual claimant, subject to certain limitations. Investment services offered by the Bank are not covered by an investor compensation scheme as there is currently no such scheme operating in Jersey, however ‘eligible deposits’ or ‘qualifying deposits’ held pursuant to investment services may be protected under the Banking Deposit Compensation Schemes described above – for more information see the Bank’s general terms and conditions. Some of the products that the Bank might recommend to you could be registered overseas and may be covered by a local compensation scheme. Your investment counsellor will provide you with the details of any overseas compensation schemes (where applicable) at the time of making an investment recommendation.

Confidentiality

Royal Bank of Canada (Channel Islands) Limited (“the Bank”) will treat all information regarding you and your account (whether acquired before or after the opening of an account was contemplated and whether originating from you or a third party) as confidential. The Bank will not disclose any information that it holds about you or your account except in the following circumstances:

  1. where the Bank is compelled to do so under the laws of Jersey;
  2. where you have provided your prior written authorisation to do so*;
  3. where it is in the Bank’s interest to do so; or
  4. where it is in the public interest to do so.
  5. where the Bank needs to disclose information to other financial institutions for the purposes of fraud prevention.
    For the purposes of fraud or crime prevention or detection, the Bank may also use RBC’s centralised systems and/or systems resources and/or specialist information technology employees in other countries such as Canada and the United Kingdom, whether or not those countries have equivalent data protection legislation to the jurisdiction from which the Account is provided and which may be outside the European Economic Area. In such circumstances, the Bank shall use its reasonable endeavours to ensure that Client information, including any Client personal data is protected to the standards which the Bank applies in the jurisdiction of the Account.

The Bank may be required to disclose information about you and your account to third parties to facilitate the provision of services to you. In such circumstances you will be notified of this fact in advance of the service being provided to you and your confirmation that this information can be shared with the relevant third parties (and your prior written authorisation to do so) will be requested in the relevant application form.

* If you request information regarding a product or service that is not provided by the Bank, you hereby authorise the Bank to provide your name and address to the RBC Wealth Management entity that provides that product or service, so that the information can be provided to you. In such instances, your information will be handled by the Wealth Management service provider in accordance with local laws and regulations. For example, information held by Royal Bank of Canada (Suisse) is handled and maintained in accordance with Swiss Law.


Export control

You may not use or export or re-export the Information or any copy or adaptation in violation of any applicable laws or regulations, including export laws and regulations in force from time to time.

Jurisdiction

The Site is administered on behalf of the Royal Bank of Canada entities that comprise RBC’s Wealth Management network by Royal Bank of Canada (Channel Islands) Limited from its office in Jersey, Channel Islands. The Site will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Jersey, without giving effect to any principles of conflicts of laws. All disputes, controversies or claims arising out of or in connection with the Site shall be submitted to and be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Jersey. Through accessing the site you agree to submit and attorn to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Jersey to finally adjudicate or determine any suit, action or proceeding arising out of or in connection with the Site.

The following terms apply if you access any of the social media pages, accounts, sites, channels and/or any application(s) within the said pages, accounts, sites and channels which have been established and administered by the Bank or employees of the Bank who are using such pages in a representative capacity (each individually referred to as a “Social Media Page”, collectively referred to as the “Social Media Pages”). The Social Media Pages are designed for you and we encourage you to review, leave comments, discuss the Bank’s products and services, watch and share our videos and to engage us.
