Key hire is the latest move to further refine firm’s focus on goals-based advice

MINNEAPOLIS (March 9, 2017) – Industry veteran Angie O’Leary has joined RBC Wealth Management-U.S. as the firm’s head of Wealth Planning. The newly created role is the latest move to further refine RBC Wealth Management’s focus on goals-based advice in the U.S.

“Our advisors have some of the strongest, deepest client relationships anywhere in the industry,” said Michael Armstrong, CEO of RBC Wealth Management-U.S. “As head of Wealth Planning, Angie will ensure that we’re giving our advisors the tools and support they need to bring those relationships to a new level.”

Earlier this year, RBC Wealth Management-U.S. kicked off a series of investments in goals-based advice with the launch of RBC WealthPlan, a customized version of PIEtech’s innovative MoneyGuidePro® wealth planning software.

“While we’ve historically had many areas working on wealth planning, Angie will lead a team solely focused on goals-based advice – namely deriving new insights and increasing our effectiveness so that we can deliver more customized solutions to our clients,” said Ann Senne, head of the Advice and Solutions Group at RBC Wealth Management-U.S. “We want our advisors to not only help clients see how their investments are doing, but to know whether or not the client is on the path to achieving their financial goals and – if they aren’t – help create a path to get there.”

A 25-year veteran of the financial services industry, O’Leary most recently served as the head of investment solutions for U.S. Bank Wealth Management. In that role she held responsibility for product management, desktop tools and digital investment capabilities. She also oversaw the business line’s mutual fund and insurance product distribution relationships. Prior to her career at U.S. Bank, O’Leary held leadership positions at UBS and Piper Jaffray.

O’Leary holds a bachelor’s in business finance from San Jose State University and has completed coursework toward a master’s in Accounting from Santa Clara University.
