MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (December 4, 2018) – Beginning in early December, RBC Wealth Management – U.S. will send a group of former interns to the University of Minnesota, University of St. Thomas and University of St. Benedict campuses in order to build awareness about careers in financial services among the next generation of workers and drive interest in future internship programs and entry level positions available at the firm.

“Finance is an exciting industry, but there’s a whole generation entering the workforce that doesn’t know that,” said Tom Sagissor, president of RBC Wealth Management – U.S. “We are constantly adapting to the rapid pace of change brought on by new technology, new kinds of competitors and new clients and employees who view our offerings differently than previous generations. By drawing on the experience of some of our interns, we hope to better attract the next generation to the industry and our business.”

RBC’s summer interns collaborated on “capstone” group projects, tackling issues important to the firm—and the industry—such as wealth planning for the next generation, attracting and retaining diverse and millennial talent, employee recognition, digital planning, emerging technologies, analytics, and more. As a result of one of these capstone projects, RBC Wealth Management created the Student Ambassador program. These ambassadors will attend campus recruiting events, setting up advertising events, joining on-campus groups, networking with students, and sharing their intern experiences.

“Building awareness about the many exciting career opportunities in financial services within college campuses is very important to recruiting the next generation of leaders at RBC Wealth Management,” Sagissor added. “I’m excited to see how our student ambassadors apply the leadership and communication skills developed as interns to impact our business in a unique, positive way.”
