Firm President and CEO say Kimmell, known for out-of-the-box thinking that helped spark largest increase in female advisors and female branch directors in firm history, is a natural fit for key role

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (September 19, 2019) – RBC Wealth Management – U.S. is pleased to announce that it has appointed Kristen Kimmell as Head of Advisor Recruiting & Field Marketing, making her one of few women to hold the top advisor recruiting role in the wealth management industry.

A nearly 25-year veteran of the firm, Kimmell has held a variety of roles in Finance, Capital Markets and Wealth Management, including roles leading Technology, Credit Strategy and Business Development. She also serves as the co-executive sponsor of RBC Wealth Management’s Women’s Association of Financial Advisors (WAFA).

“Over the past two years, we’ve established ourselves as a destination firm for the best advisors in the business who are looking for all the resources of Wall Street yet want more of a Main Street feel,” said Tom Sagissor, President of RBC Wealth Management – U.S. “Our continued success will depend on our ability to articulate what makes RBC Wealth Management – U.S. so unique. We quickly realized there was no one from the outside who had the same understanding of our firm’s culture or the same spirit, passion and energy that we found in our own backyard with one of our top notch executives.”

In her new role, Kimmell will seek out the best talent to join the firm’s nearly 2,000-strong financial advisor base. She will be particularly committed to furthering the firm’s efforts to cultivate a diverse and inclusive advisor force and elevating the role of women within the wealth management industry.

Thanks in large part to Kimmell’s advocacy and guidance, the number of female advisors at RBC Wealth Management – U.S. has grown by 23% in the last two years, and the number of women in branch director roles has doubled.

“Kristen’s out-of-the-box thinking and ability to bring together teams to accomplish goals have been proven time and time again throughout her career at RBC,” said Michael Armstrong, CEO of RBC Wealth Management – U.S. “There is really no better person for this role and I can’t wait to see just how big of an impact she will have.”

Kimmell’s passion for bringing women into the financial industry has been the driving force behind several initiatives, including the “Your Path Can Lead to RBC” video series highlighting women in advisor roles. As the co-executive sponsor of WAFA, she also helps the group achieve its goals of recruiting and retaining female financial advisors and branch directors, along with enhancing advisor productivity.

“As an industry, it’s our duty to create a supportive environment for professionals of all backgrounds, and in turn give our clients access to advice from diverse perspectives. I’m proud to work for RBC, which has long shared in this vision and continues to walk the walk, not just talk the talk,” said Kimmell. “In my new role, I look forward to getting to know even more of the wealth management community and helping more professionals find a home at RBC.”
