Former Chicago Bears quarterback ready for second career in financial services industry

CHICAGO (December 11, 2019) – Former NFL quarterback Caleb Hanie is ready to tackle a second career as a financial advisor, joining RBC Wealth Management–U.S. in its Palos Heights branch.

Caleb Hanie, whose six-year NFL career included three years with the Chicago Bears, recently joined the Heide Wealth Management Group in Palos Heights as an associate financial advisor. Hanie had been a client of the group, which specializes in wealth management for athletes and entertainment professionals, for more than a decade. Throughout his playing career, he saw firsthand the value of having someone looking after his finances.

“As a player, the team brought a consistent level of excellence, quality and experience with pro athletes,” Hanie said. “I always loved working with them, and when they moved to RBC, it was an even higher level of excellence and quality. I wanted to be a part of it.”

“Caleb and I talked about him joining our team quite a bit over the years,” said Jeff Neumann, Senior Vice President – Financial Advisor of Heide Wealth Management Group. “He has an unbelievable sincerity and trustworthiness about him, and he can really relate to what a professional athlete goes through.”

Hanie recently moved to the Chicago area from Dallas with his wife, Andrea, and their three children. After his NFL career ended in 2014, he spent five years in the start-up space with other former NFL players developing Flex Football, a style of semi-contact youth football designed to give a realistic experience while preventing head impact.

“Helping people solve problems and achieve long-term goals is what really appeals to me about becoming a financial advisor,” Hanie said. “I’ve gone through a lot of the same big decisions throughout my career, so I can relate to other athletes/entertainers. I’m looking forward to reconnecting to the game in a way that I can add a lot of value.”

Hanie is currently going through RBC Wealth Management’s two-year AFA training program, where he will complete the required coursework and take the licensing exams to become a financial advisor. He is expected to have his initial licenses in spring 2020.
