Brett Thorne is president of RBC Clearing & Custody—one of the country’s leading clearing firms for broker-dealers and custodian boutiques for registered investment advisors. He’s responsible for the growth and delivery of products, services and advice to retain and attract independent broker-dealers and registered investment advisory firms.
He’s currently a member of the RBC Wealth Management–U.S. Executive Committee and RBC Capital Markets, LLC Board of Directors.
In 1988, he began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers before moving to RBC in 1994. Prior to his current role, Brett was the chief operating officer for RBC Clearing & Custody, where he oversaw administrative functions, operational controls and managed business risk. He also implemented business initiatives and worked closely with Global Wealth Services, Operations, Compliance and Legal within RBC Wealth Management on matters influencing RBC Clearing & Custody.
Brett earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and a master’s degree in finance from the University of St. Thomas. He completed the Securities Industry Institute program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a Certified Public Accountant.
