Janet Engels is head of the Portfolio Advisory Group – U.S., managing the U.S. Equities, Fixed Income Strategies and Managed Portfolio Solutions teams.

In this role, she oversees advisory support for RBC Wealth Management – U.S. financial advisors, including investment strategy, portfolio construction and security selection. Janet also oversees the management of a wide range of discretionary portfolios offered on the Investment Advisory platform. She serves as chair of the U.S. Investment Committee. Previously, she founded RBC Wealth Management’s Global Portfolio Advisory Committee (GPAC) and served as its co-chair.

With more than three decades of industry experience, Janet is a highly sought-after securities thought leader and frequently speaks at client seminars across the country. She’s also appeared on national and local television, including CNBC, Fox Business and MSNBC. Janet’s been quoted in leading industry publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s and Reuters.

Her career began in the equity research department of Tucker Anthony in the early 1980s, where she helped establish the firm’s Equity Strategies group. She later served as director of equity strategies at Tucker Anthony and as director of equity research for its sister firm, San Francisco–based Sutro & Co.

Following RBC Wealth Management’s acquisition of Tucker Anthony in 2002, Janet was the director of U.S. Equities for the Portfolio Advisory Group. In January 2018, she was named head of the Portfolio Advisory Group – U.S.

In 2016, Profiles in Diversity Journal included Janet in its “Women Worth Watching” list to recognize her leadership, achievements and positive influence on RBC. She is a past recipient of RBC Wealth Management’s “Irv Weiser Diversity Award.” Janet was honored for upholding RBC’s commitment to diversity and participating in events that support and educate women and increase awareness about people with disabilities.

Janet earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.
