Vice President Head, Global Investments
Janet Engels is head of Global Investments, overseeing investment teams in the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. Janet leads the teams responsible for research and thought leadership, and guides investment strategies that are underpinned by RBC’s global expertise.
Her career began in the equity research department of Tucker Anthony in the early 1980s, where she helped establish the firm’s Equity Strategies group. She later served as director of equity strategies at Tucker Anthony and as director of equity research for its sister firm, San Francisco–based Sutro & Co.
Janet joined RBC with the Tucker Anthony acquisition in 2002. Prior to her role as the head of Global Investments, she served as head of the Portfolio Advisory Group–U.S., supporting RBC Wealth Management–U.S. financial advisors with investment strategy, portfolio construction and security selection. Janet also oversaw the management of a wide range of discretionary portfolios offered on the Investment Advisory platform, served as chair of the U.S. Investment Committee and founded RBC Wealth Management’s Global Portfolio Advisory Committee (GPAC) and served as its co-chair.
With more than four decades of industry experience, Janet is a highly sought-after securities thought leader and frequently speaks at events and seminars, bringing market insights to financial advisors and their clients. Her expertise has also been featured in leading national and industry publications.
Janet earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.
