Guernsey’s young people get a helping hand with employment opportunities

A team of RBC Wealth Management employees donated their time to Giving Opportunities in Guernsey.

A social enterprise in Guernsey that aims to help young people with learning disabilities find meaningful employment has been given a funding boost.

RBC Wealth Management handed over £5,000 to the Giving Opportunities initiative and a team of eight RBC employees also volunteered to help paint the Giving Opportunities workshop to make the donation more impactful.

The Giving Opportunities initiative supports school-leavers and those looking to enter the workforce by helping them find jobs to grow their skill-set, further reinforcing the bank’s commitment to the Channel Islands’ communities. The programme also addresses the importance of mental health, working to ensure young islanders have the support they need when it comes to their wellbeing.

The social enterprise also offers young islanders the chance to work in one of its three businesses, improving their confidence and providing them with the skills needed to succeed in the workplace. The donation will be used to run more workshops and provide training for young people in their furniture and charity shops, as well as in their outdoor recycling centre.

The donation was given from the RBC’s Donations Fund in Guernsey, which aims to make a lasting social impact through responsible giving to the charitable sector. It also forms part of RBC’s global focus for citizenship – to support young people aged between 15-29 years find meaningful employment.
